IAN'S PHOTOGRAPHIC JOURNEY
Northern Vietnam Gallery 2
Hanoi is a charming city: very chic, very French. Somehow, the French architecture and way of life blend in well with the locals. The Hoan Kiem Lake smack in the city center is a useful focal point. The old quarter in Hanoi oozes with character without trying too hard at it. In the north-western hill areas, Sapa and Bac Ha come alive with an explosion of colour as folks from the various hill tribes don their finest and go about their weekly shopping in the marketplace.
The Municipal Theatre in Hanoi. It was built in 1911 as an opera house and it was from a balcony of this building that the communists announced that they had takien over the city on 16 Aug 1945. | ||
